When the weather is nice, and my husband is off work, one of our favorite places to go is the Île-des-Moulins park here in Terrebonne. It’s one of these magical places that were, and still are, so central to life in the area, that we can’t imagine them ever not being there.
Full of local wildlife, my bird-obsessed three-year-old is always delighted to feed the mallards and Canada geese, as well as observe (and be serenaded by) many other species, such as red-winged blackbirds, black-capped chickadees, red-breasted nuthatches, and cedar waxwings in late summer. The last time we went, we even got a chance to spot a few great blue herons and saw their nests high up in the trees.
Seeing Pearl Girl’s eyes light up, hearing the soft rush of water, the birdsong, and the laughter of family gives us a true break from the business of the everyday. It is a beautiful place to be, and beautiful places are good for the soul.

Vieux Terrebonne is one of my favorite places and we go there quite often, especially in summer. Love your pictures.

Thanks!
We’ve lived here almost a year now, and I’m growing to love this region quite a bit; so much to see and do!
