Yesterday I started participating in a June Instagram Challenge {hosted by Britney from A Mama Tale}. I’m always at a loss for what to post on instagram, so following a challenge is a great boost.
To the point, today’s prompt is Terrific Tuesdays: what makes today terrific?
I almost posted something to the effects of “Har-de-har, I haven’t slept in two days because Sapphire Son is feverishly cutting six (yes six <6>) teeth, and his being anywhere else but Maman’s arms results in screaming. “Terrific” is not a word I would use to describe my day.” But… as they usually do, a poem popped into my head that put all that into perspective.
Oh, cleaning and scrubbing
will wait ’till tomorrow,
But children grow up
As we’ve learned to our sorrow.
So, quiet down cobwebs,
Dust go to sleep.
I’m rocking my baby,
And babies don’t keep.
~ Ruth Hubert Hamilton
You know what? Today really is a Terrific Tuesday. As I type this post, Sapphire Son is snoring away in my arms, and Pearl Girl is cuddled close, reading Cinderella. It’s been said to death, but these moments do go by so incredibly fast. Okay, so my unfolded laundry pile is starting to rival Everest, the kitchen floor could use sweeping, and woah, do I ever need a full night’s sleep… But for now, for right now, I’ll just sit here and cuddle with my kids, amd commit this moment to memory. Too soon, they will have outgrown my lap and my arms, and cuddles will be a thing of the past.
Have a Terrific Tuesday.
Those are awesome names for your kids! 🙂

Thank you! ^_^
I don’t like using their real names (or completely showing their faces) on the internets, but just saying “my son” or “my daughther” all thentime sounded bland, lol.
